About the Seminar

Russia-Japan Joint Seminar “Non-equilibrium processing of materials: experiments and modeling” is aimed to bring together researchers in the area of synthesis and processing of materials by non-equilibrium, high-energy and pulse methods. The Seminar will provide a platform for exchanging ideas and discussing experimental and theoretical aspects of non-equilibrium processing of materials. The Seminar will serve the goal of strengthening collaborative ties between Russian and Japanese scientists in the field of materials science.

In the framework of the Seminar, school for young scientists will be organized: young scientists will receive an opportunity to present their work and attend lectures of prominent scientists and specialists working in the field of non-equilibrium processing of materials.

We are happy to organize this Seminar in 2018 – a Russia-Japan cross-cultural year!

History of Russia-Japan Joint Seminars

The collaboration between the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Tohoku University, Japan started in 1970s. The first materials science seminar was organized in 2009 and since then joint seminars have become one of the forms of bilateral collaboration. In 2009, 2010, 2013 and 2016, the seminars were hosted by Nikolaev Institute of Inorganic Chemistry SB RAS; in 2016 и 2017 by Novosibirsk State University. In 2011, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018, the seminars were organized by Tohoku University. All seminars had a format of school for young scientists (the majority of participants consisted of students, post-graduate students and young scientists).
